Feeling a bit depressed

Hi, I was diagnosed T2 a couple of months ago but is it normal for the BGL to continue to worsen ? I am following a strict low carb diet with only occasional ( say once a fortnight) slip ups. Exercising. But the numbers keep rising ... :( Yesterday before lunch I had a 6.0. Today before lunch its the worst ever since diagnosis 6.7 ... Am I doing anything wrong or is Insulin inevitable? I have been on metformin for 2 years ( before I was diagnosed) and it did nothing at all and still does nothing .. I was tested for Type 1.5 antibodies and had a trace level which they said was a negative result... should I get tested again ? I have several other autoimmune diseases.. Thanks, Jen

I don't think there is a normal tbh.
We all react differently.
As to your readings, they're not bad at all.

Low carb can cause your body to release glucose, which can initially push up your bs.
Exercise will also do the same.

It can take a while for you to adjust to your new regime, so don't worry too much.

I can only speak from a couple of months experience... but there isn't always logic to blood glucose levels. It just depends how much or how little insulin your body has managed to release.
For me, as a newbie who is on an extremely low carb diet, either of your figures would be a great pre-lunch reading for me. I can eat exactly the same thing, do the same amount of exercise on two days, and can have a reading of 5.5 or a reading of 9.5.

Not sure how much metformin you are on, but I'm on 2000mg. I was told to take 2 x 500mg at breakfast, and 2 x 500mg with my evening meal. However, I've found that by splitting my dose up and taking 1 with breakfast, 1 with lunch, 1 with dinner, and 1 before bed, I maintain better control. It may be worth discussing it with your DSN/GP.

Thanks for your replies. I guess I was feeling a bit down as my numbers don't seem to be budging. I just need to be more patient . I am on only 1 x 500mg SR Metformin at the moment. I was on 2 x a day ( breakfast and dinner ) but I was sleeping badly and my morning BGL are so low at home, that Dr dropped the dinnertime dose as she thought I was having hypos during the night. I have Adrenal Insufficiency and that drops the cortisol at night to low and affects the BGL too. Maybe I need more although Metformin has never helped me at all anyway.. My pathology fasting BGL went from 5.5 to 6.3 while taking it as a pre diabetic so it did not help much. Yesterday the numbers were not good again and I gained weight but I did have toast for lunch as I was feeling ill so maybe the virus is affecting the BGL too. It is so complicated and I get a bit down when I low carb for no real effect. Thanks for your help, Jen
