After a spell in hospital last week due to my asthma, my blood sugars have spiralled yet again. This mornings reading was 19.2 , rang gp and all they said was unless I'm experiencing symptoms they won't do anything. I'm moody, sleepy and just can't be bothered with anything.

I do sympathise. My husband's just had a couple of hospital admissions, and the food in both was basically carbs plus preservatives. For him the worst effect is the weight gain (he's not diabetic so he doesn't worry about BG); for me the worst effect is the wind

In my experience the only worse hospital diet than the standard one is the diabetic one, which keeps the carbs and preservatives but is also low-fat.

Thanks kesun, the hospital I was in just didn't cater for diabetics. They kept offering me things that I really couldn't eat. When I told them I couldn't eat it and why the look I got was unbelievable. All I was offered was sandwiches, I don't eat bread so I basically just ate fruit. It was awful.
