Hi evryone im new to this site, just thought I would ask a quick question im type 2 and was diagnosed approx 3 years ago just recently i feel tired all the time so much so after coming home from work I fall to sleep on the sofa most nights around 7pm (not normal)

I have made appointment for this friday 21st to see my doctor but just wondered if anyone can give me any advise ? :(

Thanks

There are several causes of tiredness:
1. High blood sugar levels
2. Vitamin D deficiency
3. Vitamin B12 deficiency
4. Anaemia
5. Underactive thyroid

When you get to your doc, get yourself tested for this lot.

I was misdiagnosed with chronic fatigue when I had vitamin D deficiency, it is quite common in people with diabetes.

Nice one Denise... Also add in a check up with a dietician as they found I wasnt eating "sufficient carbs" to get me through the day. OK it sounds a bit odd given all the hoo ha on here re Carb Counting BUT youre type 2 not 1 & ur usage & need of carbs is very different to a type 1. A proper diabetic dietician will understand this. Best thing I ever did & even more so since I went onto insulin.

Also my HBA1C levels have come down from 12.7 > 8.6 over the time since I saw the dietician as well. Theres a section on diet for type 2s on the main site as well.

Hope this helps

Great idea Denise im going to get check on vitamin b12 due to your post I will ask for full works, but already checked thyroid it was how I found out I'm diabetic as I don't fit the 'type 2' criteria! I have bouts of unreal tiredness and potential other lack of b12 deficiency symptoms. I was going to ask for anaemia check, but on finding out about metformin and potential links to b12 deficiency I am going to ask for this and vitamin d check. There is also mention of zinc deficiency but that seems to be linked to b12, not sure how, but I'm on my 5th cold since Christmas so my resistance is low.
