My addiction to carbs
I found out I had Insulin Resistance about 3 months ago. I have a family history of Type 2 (and possibley Type 1) so this was an early wakeup call for me. I lost 8kg following a Low GI/Moderate Carb diet (still got some more to lose). I have Addisons Disease and Hashimotos Disease. I generally eat every 2-3 hours but some days I have all the symptoms of low blood sugar late morning but my blood sugars are fine, i.e.around mid 5's). My endo told me to buy the blood glucose monitor so I could test when I feel 'funny', keep a record of what's going on and come back in 4 months. I don't get what's going on ... this morning I felt pretty rough (late morning), still felt a bit rough after lunch so had some orange juice and felt quite a bit better pretty soon after. A couple of hours later feeling hypo again. Can anyone shed any light on this? I have always been one of those people who can't go too long without food because of low blood sugar, though it's never been measured til now .... in fact the thought of not having access to food just makes me break out in a sweat! Any ideas anyone?

If your bloods are dropping below your personal comfort zone, you may be experiencing false hypos. In effect your body feels it's going low (even when the level isn't necessarily low), and sends out the "feed me now" signals you appear to be experiencing. Provided you stick with your strategy, these feelings will diminish and go away - unless you really are low.

If you do a search, you will find lots of discussion surrounding this. It's pretty common.

Hi. Unless your blood sugar goes noticeably below 5 shown by the meter then you probably aren't having a real hypo. The longer you low-carb the more your body will stop craving carbs and the need for constant food will fade and so will the hypo symptoms. This assumes you don't have some other medical condition

It takes a few months for your body to adjust to any change.
4 months is probably a reasonable time to try any diet, and see if it works for you.
If you do feel ill, eat a small amount, and see if you feel better.
Nothing wrong with doing that, small and often worked for me.
Check your blood afterwards, and see what's happened there as well.
