Feeling low and scared

If you care to read the keywords I put in the search engine, namely "avocados carbs" ...... One avocado is 9 g. Quite high for some people here, but not me!
you put the keywords "natual (sic) foods for lowering blood pressure" in your google search. According to Tesco 1/2 an avocado contains 1.7 g of carbs so that makes 3.4g per fruit

I'm not sure what this link is supposed to show? Its just a google search page with lots of results from odd websites..?

Well, the info on the link to Bembu.com is useful. I like it. I haven't had the chance to look at them fully and will be off to bed and hopefully to get a decent nights sleep very soon.

Oh ... what you put into google will bring you up the US nutritional info which if you read down slightly you will find includes the fibre. In the UK the fibre value is excluded from the total carb count. Therefore you need to subtract the fibre total from the carb total to get the correct carb reading.. in the case of avocado you get 9 g of carbs less 7g of dietary fibre giving 2g of net carbs per 100g. Its for that reason I usually get my nutritional info from any UK supermarket website which has the dietary fibre already subtracted. Hope that helps.. and now you can eat more avocados.

@tigerlily72 - if you are seeing your doctor, please ask for your B12 levels to be checked as a deficiency can cause similar symptoms to the ones you describe.

Really, could you be suffering from a reaction to Losartan?
If you read the list of possible side effects in the packet, it might be that.

That was my first thought. I used to be on 50mg of Losartan but they couldn't get that one so the pharmacist gave me 25mg ones instead. When I took my first 2 I felt quite itchy but after taking them the next day my eczema flared big time and I was very itchy and my doctor prescribed antihistamine tablets. They changed me to Candasartan which causes no issues.

I can't help with your symptoms etc but my pharmacist suggested I got a pre payment card for my prescriptions. It's a fixed amount every 3, 6 or 12 months and even if your prescriptions increase, it's the same price regardless. I pay a little over £10 a month so I'm currently saving approx £15 a month as I have 3 prescriptions. Hope this is useful to you http://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/1127.aspx

Thank you. That means I am probably not eating enough carbohydrates!. I have been putting a half advocat0 in my salads so now I can eat both halves!

Where did you get that idea? Avocados are very low in carbohydrates. According to the Australian Calorie King website - 100g Haas avocado has 0.6g of carbs and 2.8g fibre.

From Google! American guidelines.

You said I was sceptical and I replied I amn't. It works for many. You must have missed my original answer.

I asked my endocrinologist whether I should go on LCHF and he said it wasn't for me. I have always been careful about food. Fry ups have never had an attraction! I eat seeded oatcakes, not pasta. I have stopped for the time being the odd croissant in Pret.

Please can you stop pursuing this! Cheers!

Hi @tigerlily72 I hope you had a restful night. Dr Google had me dead and buried this year so I wouldn't trust that guy! x

if you hit reply at the bottom or put @ infront of the person you are replying to's name then they will see it - otherwise its easy to miss replies.

I don't think it is the Losartan causing the problems as the symptoms had started BEFORE I was prescribed them. I had been on amlodipine. I stopped the amlodipine as I was suffering with swollen ankles and what looked like swollen legs as well. It was probably a couple of weeks before I saw my Dr and then starting taking the Losartan.

I'm not itchy at all. It's the burning, stinging and tingling sensation that's getting me down as it's uncomfortable, rather than actually painful.

I did have a pre payment card around this time last year and for the first 6 months or so of this year as I had more than 1 med a month that I was taking. I was getting the 3 month card. However, when I made the decision to come off and stop my antidepressants I didn't renew or get another one.

Hmmm, I think I may need to reapply if this is going to be on going . . .
