So for the last few months I've felt so low! It's got to the point now where it's starting to affect other parts if my life. I'm 27 been T1 Diabetic for 24 years and have complications with my kidneys, eyes and recently feet. I also suffer with Psoriatic Arthritis (I am 27 honest) and restless leg syndrome which drs are unsure is diabetes related or not. The thing that is really getting me down is what will my quality of life be in say 20 years time? I know that I'm not alone and that there is always people to talk to, but I feel so pathetic and kinda scared! I know in a certain amount of time that I will feel better but I just feel so low this time.

dude, you are not alone though I guess it does get like that a lot.
What sort of support do you get from your diabetes team? I know compared to you I am really nothing more than a baby (only been at this gig for 5 years or so) but it just sounds like you are wearing out with this.

I'm guessing since you have the collection of "oppathies" that your control hasn't been great. Please don't take it as an accusation, for the time that you have had it I bet you have seen some pretty amazing changes in how this is all treated. How is it going now?
While you may have this collection of issues if you still don't have the control nailed down it really is still not too late.

Take heart. There is still time and there is always still hope.

I'm not going to make fluffy reassuring noises, because I cannot imagine how you must be feeling.

But I will say that the only way to affect what happens in 20 years is to affect what happens today. What one thing (just 1!) can you do today, that will help you in 20 years?

For me (because I'm thinking I am going to deteriorate over time too) I am thinking of only eating sweet stuff when at home. Since I only buy low carb sweet things to eat at home, that will guarantee I don't eat the bad sweet things...

What about you?

Have you talked to your hcp about feeling low? Having had depression in the past sometimes the best thing to do is accept a little medical help whether it's a talking therapy or a course of medication. Don't accept these feelings as normal, the sooner you can get help the better and you've already made the 1st step by talking about it here. We're all here to help, even if you only want to vent
