Hi everyone

I was diagnosed 6 weeks ago with hba1c of 76. I was supposed to take 4 metformin a day increasing each week but I noticed a difference with dietary changes so I just take one metformin in the evening.

The last week my post meal readings have been really good (between 4.5 and 7), the fasting levels are abit higher usually in the 6s but had a couple in the 4s. I've had quite a lot of normal readings over the last 4 weeks or so but this week seems to be more consistent.

However the last few days my arms and legs are feeling tingling on and off. And when I wake up I have a feeling like pins and needles in my hands (like I have slept on them but I don't think I have ).

Just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar? And does it go away? It seems strange that it has developed when my blood sugars seem more normal. Perhaps my body is adjusting ?
I'm really worried I've got damage from diabetes already, I had normal hba1c levels in 2018.

Thanks

Metformin can cause vitamine B12 deficiency, of which tingling hands and feet are a symptom... I don't know how long it takes for that to kick in though. With practices being hard to reach right now you might want to forgo a blood test and just get a little bottle of b-complex or something from Holland & Barrett's. If that works, you've found the culprit.

It might be an idea to speak to your GP about your symptoms as they may be totally unrelated to the diabetes

2 months after I achieved "remission" I had nerve issues down my right thigh.
Tingling, prickley, numb then hypersensitive.
I did a bit of research & it seems it's most likely your nerves healing.
In my case it took 5 months to full resolve but now it's perfect again.
