I've suddenly had a thought... (unusual I know!)
Can two small but very sore and irritating patches of hard dry skin possibly be slow to heal because of diabetes?

Yes, quite possibly. Foot infections and diabetes, unfortunately, go hand-in-hand. Your feet are the last thing to get the nutrients from your blood and the first to feel the affect of elevated BGs.

Try to get hold of some exfoliating foot wash and use it a couple of times per week. I suffer from chronic athletes foot and it works for me.
