The pain of the neuropathy can be reduced by medication, your annual foot screening should give you an indication of how bad it is, could well be worth asking for a new appointment to get it looked at. Keeping good BS can also help with the needles and pins and the hot cold feeling in the feet. If this has been going on for a long time then the damage can not be reversed.

When my BS went high a while ago the symptoms had increased slightly and by getting the BS down quickly enough the symptoms have gone back to the previous levels.
