Fiasp and joint pain

Hello,

Has anyone had any joint pain connected to Fiasp?

I changed over from Novarapid about two weeks ago and both index and middle fingers have become inflamed and painful in that time.
To the point where I can no longer play the guitar which is a serious problem because this is how I earn my living.
It might not be related.
I've emailed my Diabetic Specialist Nurse to see if he can advise because I don't want to change back to NovRapid just yet.

Has anyone had an experience like this?

Sorry to read about your finger joint problems.
I have been using Fiasp for a few years without any such pain. I found it challenging at the start with regards to the speed at which is works being based on my staring BG resulting in some stubborn highs. But nothing else.
Does the leaflet that comes in the box with the insulin suggest any such issues?

I do use Fiasp and I do have joint pain, but I have no reason to feel they may be related for me.
Unlike with Lantus/glargine, I'm 95 % sure that did cause me joint pain (but it's also a known side effect for Lantus).

However, if you feel it may be the Fiasp, and you don't want to go back to Novorapid, would it be possible for you to get a script for Lyumjev? It works as quick or possibly even quicker than Fiasp, and it's made up completely different so unlikely to cause the same side effects.

I hope to speak to my nurse next week so I'll definately be checking that out.

In the meantime, the pain in my hands was so bad this morning that I have reverted to NovaRapid.
I don't like making chages without consultation but I'm pretty sure he will agree, plus it's the best way to find out if it IS the Fiasp which is causing the pain and inflamation in my hands.

Interestingly, my background is Lantus (split dose 12 units at 6am, 8 units at 9pm). It's been so reliable for years now but hearing some people like yourself reporting joint pain makes me wonder, is there a relationship here? Could the Lantus / Fiasp combination be causing a problem?

This platform is wonderful!
I really didn't expect to get such quick replies!

I've done some reading around on a number of sites, including DiabetesUK, which have long lists of worrying and far-reaching side effects for pretty much every insulin going!

It's almost as if you could attribute pretty much any ailment to any insulin!
I'm exaggerating but you get my point.

So I quickly stopped googling horror stories about insulin side effects and decided to ask the people who really know what its like.

I have absolutely no idea, but if the Lantus hasn't caused problems until now, I wouldn't expect it to change really.
I'll have my fingers crossed for you (yes, I can do that, my pain isn't in my hands so please spare your own fingers and let me do the crossing) that a change of insulin will solve the issue!
There's is always the possibility of it being completely unrelated to the insulin. Autoimmune conditions like to hunt in packs after all, and you already have T1.
Still, ruling in/out side effects first makes sense to me.

Let us know what happens!
