Fiasp Insulin - my findings

So I've been a long term NovoRapid user, though I found NovoRapid was easy to overshoot as the onset was a bit slow, and then came in aggressively for me.

So I read about Apidra, and my GP was happy to prescribe, the biggest waste of time ever, its onset for me was almost 2 hours, then a weak effect...

So I went back to NovoRapid and then some helpful soul on here mentioned Fiasp and I asked my GP to prescribe, he obliged.

Fiasp for me kicks in around the 10 minute marker, then does it's thing for around two hours and tails off. In a day my readings look like they aren't even mine! I'm within the 4-7mmol range without too much effort. I've even lowered my Tresiba dose as I was overshooting to compensate for the weakness of Apidra.

My control is just so so much better and I've used Fiasp for approximately 24 hours as of now...they wanted to stick me on a pump, but given I can manage without, I'll be pushing for them to fund my Abbott Libre devices instead!

In conclusion, here's a YouTube video to explain how I feel about Fiasp:

Hope you stay in that range forever! What is the difference between fiasp and novorapid? Any difference in price?

@justadad Fiasp has two additional excipients that cause it to be absorbed more quickly. For most people this is the case but for some it doesn’t work.

It also comes with a health warning. For those on MDI, the following doesn’t apply, but many people using pumps have found a significant increase in amount of insulin required and variable sensitivity, so there are a fair few that have just given up on it.

I’ve been on it since March and had a fair few moments too, although I seem to have tamed it again.

So while the first 24 hours are often great, it comes with a warning that other things can happen

For MDI users, there doesn’t seem to have been the same set of side effects.
