Finally bonding with my pump

Well after flying to Russia with the pump I am really starting to see the benefits of it! Although it wasn't helpful that my DSN told me it didn't set the airport scanners off and it does so had to remove it from my bra several times  Now I know better and will wear it on my belt!

My sugars were a little erratic with all the excitement but with the pump I could easily tweak this. For the first time ever I didn't have to refuse the food during the flight. I put a new set in the day before I flew and left that in one extra day so that I didn't have to change sets while away. It all worked out fine.

When this thing works it's amazing and when it doesn't work I am learning every day how to deal with that. The good days are starting to outnumber the bad and I am realising that pushing through the hard times were so worth it.

However I couldn't have done it without this forum and in particluar Donellysdogs, who has been the most amazing support. Thank you all sooooooo much

Great news Mushy.

Having read your posts over the last few weeks, it has been a bit worrying. But it's wonderful to see this latest one :) I start using a pump in 1 month's time, so expect you to be flying by then... and I'll be coming to the likes of you for advice :D

I'm just so pleased for mushypea.....the best thing about life is learning new things from talking to people on the net and the phone. Doesn't matter what our backgrounds are, what our lifestyles are or who we are, there is alwasy something to learn from somebody else's real life experiences. I too have learnt alot from mushypea.

Real life diabetics and expecially recently pumpers have helped me enormously, so much more than HCP's that 'normally' aren't diabetics themselves, so don't wholly appreciate our life's. It has been great for me to meet new people here that are so committed to giving time and their experiences to get others through....I think we should all be proud of ourselves if we just give a minute of our time helping other people. I have learnt so much from others in these past few months, and it brings a huge smile to my face to know that Russia was good for Mushypea.
