Well after flying to Russia with the pump I am really starting to see the benefits of it! Although it wasn't helpful that my DSN told me it didn't set the airport scanners off and it does so had to remove it from my bra several times  Now I know better and will wear it on my belt!
My sugars were a little erratic with all the excitement but with the pump I could easily tweak this. For the first time ever I didn't have to refuse the food during the flight. I put a new set in the day before I flew and left that in one extra day so that I didn't have to change sets while away. It all worked out fine.
When this thing works it's amazing and when it doesn't work I am learning every day how to deal with that. The good days are starting to outnumber the bad and I am realising that pushing through the hard times were so worth it.
However I couldn't have done it without this forum and in particluar Donellysdogs, who has been the most amazing support. Thank you all sooooooo much
