I'm 69, disabled and in poor health. married for 20+ years to my 2nd wife. I was born and raised in South London, left in my late teens to join the RAF (ground trade). My dad was a biker, I got the bug from him, still have 2 motorcycles in the garage, been too ill go got out on them for a few months.
I like most music except opera, read a lot, build scale models - was using them for wargaming, but health problems prevented that this last year.
Anything you want to know, ask - I may even tell you, lol
My wife is type 2 diabetes and has been for years. For a few years the GP has been telling me I'm on the line, pre diabetic. After the last blood tests, he thinks I finally crossed the line, but wants a further blood test in 3 weeks to be sure.
I'm feeling really ****** in the mornings, easily tired during the day, just lately often needing an afternoon nap.
My wife had me check my blood sugars the last 2 days, yesterday (UK) was 8.5, today is 10.1. Wondering if I ought to wait the 3 weeks.

Hi and welcome....

The "wait three weeks" bit might be because if your test was close to the "automatic diagnosis" level (which is all they look at these days) they'll want a second check. This is because there's a 5% allowable error in the test, so the second is usually looking for confirmation of the first.

There's absolutely no reason why you should wait for the second test if there's changes to make or something you want to do about it now. You don't need permission. I was diagnosed in December just over four years ago with a pair of tests reading 50 and 49. By April, when they saw me again, my HbA1c was 36.

What that meant for me was that all the symptoms I'd been having for about ten years went very quickly - it was hard to believe. I've maintained that since then, and along the way lost maybe 70lbs. If you've read around this site, you'll know that many of us have used a low-carb approach, and that's what worked for me.

Best of luck - 95% of what i know about my condition I learnt on here, and you'll find people very willing to help. Questions are encouraged.
