So i have was diagnosed about 4 years ago with type 2 on the checks i have been around 8 to 9 on my checks but this time it shot up to 13 now i must be honest in as much as i haven't been watching my eating ect lately so its back to being a bit more watchful of diet ,my problem is i am a very fussy eater pretty much a meat n spuds man i dont really like veg pasta or the like i have made a few changes like swapping white bread for brown sweeteners instead of sugar how long would it take for the levels to drop ? i have been testing but i dont seem to be droping thanks for any advice

what you are eating isn't working for you, you have to change or take more meds. agreed?
what worked for me was no grain, grain product or potato and sugary stuff.., make out you're a kid again and cover the veg with cream cheese. LCHF diet will cut your BG, there is lots of info on this site

thanks i am seeing a dietician next week so hopefully i can get it down a bit

It does seem impossibly hard sometimes I know but the reality of T2 diabetes is that there are now some things you just can't have, not if you want your BG's to drop. Carb will always be converted to sugar in the blood and if you are insulin resistant that's just where it will stay. It does damage if not managed well so maybe it's time for you to review exactly what you are eating. Bread of any description is a killer for me, my bg's spike dreadfully but I can tolerate a bit of rice, some pasta and a small potato. I only found out what I could eat safely by testing, testing and ....you got it, testing! Test just before a meal then 2 hours after, as close to 2 hours after as you can. Write it down if you have the time, it's a good way of finding out just what's causing you problems.

Problem is you see that it MAY be possible to tweak your old way of eating to suit but in reality it's probably going to be a whole new and, at first, confusing, way of living. On here you will find quite a few ways back to health not just Low Cab, High (Healthy really) Fat. Read all you can, be greedy for information. Knowledge is power and once armed with the information then you can make informed decisions and believe me, you will see your levels start to drop.

It will take work on your part but honestly the rewards are magnificent!

Ask any questions you have to and remember that there are no stupid questions just stuff we don't know the answers to yet.

Good Luck

Hey, you are preaching to the choir, brother! Chips with anything and thought nothing of it. LOL!
Don't worry, chill! I still can't eat cooked greens, diary products are a no,no! But after searching and discovering recipes from this forum and changing some eating habits, I'm getting there. You have to see what agrees with you and if you can (I can't) a baked spud or new jerseys are nice with a salad. Portion control is required to eat low carbs. Get back on track and you should heed the advice on this forum.
