Finger prick pain

Just one other option- the Freestyle Libre? Scans readings instead of finger testing. I took the plunge and started using this just after Christmas. Gives a lot more information which is really useful. Costs are an issue though, so I alternate between buying a sensor then going back to finger testing. This gives my fingers chance to recover a bit.

Son started with the Libre yesterday and loves things like more data, better graphs and such BUT it turns out the UK license does not allow the meter to give Bolus advice on anything other than blood glucose - which means it IS NOT a prick free solution for anyone on carb counting who doesn't fancy a bit of mental maths every time they want to eat.

Hi @BarneyCraggs. You're right I think in what you're saying, but is that not more a CGM meter? The Libre is more on the lines of giving a reading for where you currently are. I have mine set up so that I enter my CP and then based on the ratios I pre set, it tells me what Bolus I should take (also takes into account if you're above or below your target levels), then it's up to me if I adjust this or not. The main benefit I find, for me, is the readings it gives in-between scans to show peaks and troughs. When viewed on the graphs, it's very informative. For this reason, no finger pricks is brilliant.

ACCU_CHEK Multiclix I've been using it for well over 10 years best one there is completely painless and I use the sides of fingers not the pad
