Finger-prick reading varies by hand AND finger

This is not a joke; it is real.
Just did a finger-prick sample on the left hand. Reading: 24.7. (Impossible, I think. I don't feel like 24.7)
So repeated on the right hand, it is 12.7 (more like it)
Decided to repeat using another finger and it is 12.9 - okay within margin or error.
Went back to left hand, another finger and it is 15.8.

Does anyone else have a similar experience?

Did you wash your hands thoroughly before the finger pricks? Did you chop some food beforehand so had food remnants on your left hand from holding the food whilst using the knife with your right hand?
 
Had similar happen (different number to yours) first test high second much lower this was it was same finger same blood
makes me wonder if some test strips can be faulty
 
I've also had this happen and it's really frustrating and confusing. I once got a 3 (too low) but didn't feel hypoglycaemic so I tested again with a different finger and got a 17! I didn't feel like it was 17 either so I tested again on a different finger and got a 7! I didn't know whether to eat sugar (for the 3), take insulin (for the 17) or do nothing (for the 7). I ended up just settling with the 7 and leaving it at that. Thankfully, this happened to be a good course of action and nothing untoward happened! I actually got rid of my meter in the end as it was regularly giving me inconsistent readings and I totally lost faith in it. I got a meter from a different brand and the readings seem much more consistent.

which meter mine is Contour Blue Plus
 
It was an Abbott meter that I had the problems with. I sent it back numerous times before getting rid of it completely. I'm now using the Contour Next One which seems much better.
