Im using the finger prick that came with my NHS BC Reader and the finger pricker either to soft or goes nuts and stabs right in ( I think its the spring) the other one I got with the Keytone machine does not work
Has anyone bought theie own from the chemist as the only ones I see com with the machines; I thought about buying a new machine as Im worried that if the one packs in I will not be able to check my BC.
Also will the doctor prescribe prescription for different machine or do they all take the same testing strips, also how long does a battery last in the machine.

Stupid questions I know but would appreciate if any who have been diabetic for some time could help answer.

If you buy another testing machine they usually come with ten test strips. Just take the packaging to your GP and ask them to change your prescription. They are legally oblidge to do so. Some might try to fob you off but most are ok.

I favour the Accuchek finger stabber, even people who use One Touch meters seem to prefer them. However buying the stabber costs very little less than buying it along with a meter and 10 or 17 strips, so I'd tend to do that and keep the second meter as a spare.

I use the AccuChek softclix plus... the one that comes with the Accu-chek compact plus machine. I use it with my one touch ultrasmart, it's a virtually pain free lancing device and the lancets come in packs of 200 so they last you ages! (at least 200 days i guess!?)

Hi all.
Since I first posted the above I have found done a few searches and there is a few out there.
It does seem best to buy a new machine with the pens in as it costs the same for the pen on its own.
so will have alook in Llyods this week.
