Finger pricking!

On another forum, there was a mention of some hospital nurses pricking the earlobe to do bg testing. Apparently, it doesnt hurt one bit. I tried and found it painless but a bit difficult to place teststrip in bg meter to earlobe droplet of blood. Good to do at home but not when out...

Yes they did this at the clinic. I was a bit perplexed when she said she was going to do it but I didn't notice at all!
 
Scrap my idea, it's not working for me now! Just tried it again and couldn't get it to work not matter which finger I tried - back to the 'stabby thing' :D

Though fascinated to try the fronts of the fingers... Doesn't that mean I'll have lots of puncture marks that are much more visible to everyone else though if I do that way...?
 
Hmmm, yes, I do sometimes have little pinhole marks on the front of my fingers. I wouldn't say they were disfiguring or anything. But certainly not something a hand model would want to do. Funnily enough it just seems random as to which fingers are left with marks. I used to get horrible bruises when I used the soft sides of my fingers.


Type 2 on Metformin, diagnosed Jan 2013, ultra low carber, Hba1C at diagnosis 8% (11mmol), now between 4.5 and 5.5 mmol. 20kg lost so far :)

Yes I get the bruises. When I have one I avoid that do her for a while and then that reduces the number of sites etc vicious cycle.

I used the front again before dinner - still loving it!

I went onto their site about 10 days ago and they have just sent me a free meter!

To the OP - are you new to this? It may be that your fingers toughen up over time. Alternatively, I shouldn't admit this being all manly, but treating your hands to a nice moisturiser can help. Also, remember to change your lancet, I tend to do 20 or 30 tests (naughty I know) and after a while the pinhole becomes a scratch...

Yes it's been 3 months so quite new still. I use moisturiser a couple of times a day (I'm a girl, it's safe for me to admit that ;) )

I guess you're right, probably will toughen up. For now I suppose I should just be pleased I don't have to squeeze to get enough blood to test with!
 
I use accu check fastclix it is so gentle on fingers,I had a boots one but love my fastclix

My son has the AccuChek Softclix its amazing!! He's 3 and very rarely complains of pain, bleeds nicely and stops great. Contour Link monitor uses very little blood to give a result too.

Weird! Front and side of fingers hurts more for me! I can get away with holding the lancet prickly thing a fraction above my finger without resting it on the pad itself and get enough blood on the lowest setting and I don't bleed easily (useless veins)

I think angle has a lot to do with it. Straight down hurts afterwards, slight angle not so much. Wish you the best and hope your pair fingers feel better soon.
