First GTT - will I feel sick?

Hey, Just about to have my first glucose tolerance test. Will it make me feel sick? I think I have to wait at the medical centre for 2 hours after having the drink, and I am just concerned that I might not feel well afterwards?
Any other handy hints greatly appreciated.

No. It's only a drink containing glucose (sugar), usually it's Lucozade they make you drink for the OGTT. Unless Lucozade makes you sick you will be fine. :)

Like most things, your response will be highly individual - I've had a few GTTs over the years and had no effect, yet I've heard other people who feel really bad, especially people with RH. YMMV.

When I had it done I felt sick but I also don't like needles and often feel sick after having blood taken. I didn't have lucozade but the drink wasn't too bad, just a very sweet lemon flavoured drink. It's not too bad and there will be staff that can look after you if you do feel unwell :)
Hope all goes okay for you :)

When I had mine the drink was really sweet but it was lemon flavoured so that did cut the sweetness a bit You have a blood test first then the drink then yes you do have to wait for 2 hours before the next blood test. Some people can feel a bit sick or dizzy after all it is an overload of sugar. I don't know how it will be at your medical centre but mine was done at the hospital myself and a couple of others having it done were not allowed to walk around in case we felt dizzy they wanted to keep an eye on us I felt fine though

I've had quite a few glucose tests.
I've never felt sick, except after I started going hypo.
But mine was a prolonged oral glucose test, more than the normal test for glucose tolerance. You will have bloods taken.
But being RH does mean getting used to testing quite quickly.

Hope all goes well for you!

My one wasn't flavoured - how lucky you all were to get lemon one :-) Mine was literally ground down glucose in tepid water. I was amazed I didn't gag!

I was fine with my tests... but the wife (who is not diabetic) would have projectile vomited at drinking a sweet drink like that. So its down to your own taste responses.
