Sooo I had my first appointment at the hospital seeing all the different consultants.. I'm 8 weeks with my first pregnancy and type 1.

It was a hideous experience to say the least! I was told off for not taking aspirin and not having been prescribed it.. That was the first time I'd even heard that I should be taking it and didn't think you were meant to take aspirin during pregnancy? Has anybody else been told to take it? Really stressed out :-(

Yes as diabetics we are at higher risk of pre eclampsia - I was advised to take 75mg of baby aspirin from week 13 xxx

I was told to take it this time (my 3rd pregnancy ) but not in my last pregnancies including a twin one. I was also told it at my 8 wk appointment (which was my 2nd one) but went and googled it first. I thought the reason they may have told me to take it this time was because i was 35 (only just!) Or because policy had changed.

If you feel bullied at appointments i find it helps to take a deep breath and calmly object to what they're saying. If you had an appointment before you conceived and were not told this, it's their fault not yours. It can also be helpful to take someone with you as moral support. It often had the effect of making doctors behave better.....

Good luck and don't worry about it too much.

Thank you for your replies.

I had my mum with me and she interjected eventually. I'm really struggling with my levels recently and don't feel like the dr was any help. In order to meet the 1 or 2 post hour targets, I then hypo. It just feels like I can't get it right. I'm so worried that it's going to harm baby :-(
