Hi Guys
Well I did it yeah go me lol

I did my first test before tea. Have to say the nerves were worse than the test. And the Fastclix was brill. I ended up on top number in order to get through my baby soft skin lol

First number 5.5 now my doctors test a week back was 6.9 so I think thats good??

So what figure should I be aiming for?

So for the first time on this Forum my advice to a newby is Don't panic its not as bad as it seems.

Cheers

what should it be "Normally"
I try to aim for 5-6 pre-meal, 7-8 a couple of hours after. My morning readings are sometimes a little high but I'm happy with 6-7. I'm not sure what meds ( if any ) you're on though so you may want to aim a little lower. I'm on insulin so I don't like to drop below 5 for too long.

Well done. For a Type 2 you could even go a bit lower!

It will come in time. I lost weight and I get lower results now even though I eat the same things

Oops :wacky: Shot up from 5.5 to 10.01

Now before anyone comes on and says about carbs etc lol this has been my first test and I have not got a diet plan yet so I am just using it as an indicator till I get it all sorted lol. Must admit bit of a shock like

Cheers

Congratulations on your first test Tigger2014 I to found it nerve wracking the first time you'll soon be testing without thinking about it! Try not to stress over your readings, it takes quite a lot of fiddling around to get you're levels right. Best of luck and if you need anything we're all here to try and help :)

Had you eaten something? If so, maybe you need to avoid that particular food.

Erm eaten something? erm yes I had erm chips and fish fingers lol

Now this morning I had Porridge, years since I had it. one of those little packet things. the milk shoots the carbs up to 28 something however I gave it a try and my pre test was 5.0 and 2 hour test was 5.4 so go me lol

If I stick to porridge for the rest of my days I will be fine lol

Cheers

did you get the 1hour test?
Sometimes foods that you would expect to cause a spike don;t, even if they have before and vice versa. It's not an exact science, unfortunately.

I was under the impression that the 1 hour BG figure (after food) was not important but apparetnly it is. If BG levels are high in that time it can be damaging our bodies.

I find porridge is okay for me too. The result you mention above are very good indeed. Well done. Keep testing and eat according to the results.
Well both be eating ONLY porridge at this rate ... hahaha
