Hi all
I am aged 59, diagnosed Type 2 two years ago - currently controlled by diet / exercise, albeit I have just had that awful flu, so not a lot of exercise recently. My last Hba1c was 5.9 which is the same as last year.
I have been reading many of the postings on this forum and on the Diabetes Support message board. It is reassuring to know that there are lots of people out there willing to help and answer our questions, albeit at times it can get quite confusing, knowing what information is best - there are so many differing views as to what is the best way forward, but I suppose it is a case of what works for you.
I have been doing 45 minutes of exercise cycling each day since diagnosis. I am probably still eating more carbs than is good for me, albeit I try to restrict them to wholemeal pasta, brown rice, porrage and wholemeal granary bread (occasionally I give in to the temptation of the dreaded chip but only very occasionally). I was wondering if anyone has any more knowledge of the latest exercise suggestion, that we should do 4 thirty second bursts of high intensity exercise, separated by a few minutes of rest, three or four times per week, instead of the sustained periods that I have been doing. I am a lazy sod, so the thought of not having to get changed into suitable clothing to cope with the sweat etc that comes from my type of exercise appeals to me.
Best wishes - Jaunty
