I've tried to use my BS Monitor for the first time tonight and it didn't go very well. I didn't draw enough blood and the lancet seemed to cut my finger I may have jumped a little when I felt it go in. Does it take long to get used to?

The lancing device that comes with the Contour meter is next to useless, why oh why they can't provide a better version to what is an excellent meter.

If you have a finger pricker from another meter just use that, otherwise set the depth control on the lowest setting but enough to draw blood.

Hi Midnight Star,
Im still testing quite a lot each day as requested by diabetic nurse. I find if you do some basics it is less painful etc. I looked at a site giving advice on best practice. Make sure you wash your hands with warm water which will increase blood flow, (ive done it with cold hands really makes a difference!!) Alternate fingers and use the side of the finger tip, not the centre. Don't rush, it will get easier and become second nature as you become more confident. Sorry if you know all this already:)

I understand how you feel, I was also like that the first time I had mine done! :) scared of the lancet....hopefully you'll get used to it soon and testing the blood glucose will be second nature to you :)
