Only diagnosed one week ago , I had my first one hour consultation with the Diabetes Nurse this morning , she was lovely . She wants me to lower carbs !! Said that she wants to see me every month for 3 months and re test and if the blood sugar is still high , I will go onto medication but wants me to have a go at lowering the carbs first . It was really good to hear her supporting the lower carb regime, I came away feeling very much happier and comforted that she is going to keep a close eye on me until we can stabalise the blood sugars . As she says, because my Nan had it and my Mother has it , it may be that my diabetes cant be controlled by diet alone but she is happy for me to have a good bash at it !
