Hi two weeks into insulin dependency LADA diagnosed. Always been overweight but was thrilled to lose 3 stone. However nurse says I have basically been weeing calories! One week of insulin I put on half stone! On low carb and recording everything.
However my question is bizarre. I have Fitbit smart scales which yes show the weight gain but my percentage fat has and still is decreasing! Obviously with the coronovirus I cannot attend gym and do small but of exercise at home. I’m thrilled as my fat was near 50% and today 44% but I’m puzzled as I’m surely not making muscle but is my lower fat suddenly turning all that hard gym work into muscle even though I’ve not been for 3 weeks????

You weren’t just weeing out fat with your dramatic weight loss.
You will also have been weeing out muscle too.

So now your body is healing/rebuilding, and its quite clever in prioritising.
Hopefully that means it is rebuilding muscle faster than rebuilding your fat reserves. :)

Don’t totally trust the scales the fat percentage is only a rough calculation

I have the Fitbit scales
And I get very different numbers through the day/week it’s only making calculations based on height weight and resistance measured through the body.. having a glass of water and waiting a few minutes will change the resistance

I can change over 5 percent in a week..

I the main the is to figure out how you feel... do you feel better? Do you feel more active? Etc

I used to obsess on this, so with measure on Fitbit, Withings (Nokia) and Tanita. These were all relatively close. I focused on Visceral fat more than body fat, muscle mass and bone density.

The Tanita scales are great (both the £40 ish and £150 ish versions) and many of the gyms use the industrial versions, which in my case measure the same as the cheap variety.

I've been there and I understand your case. With the COVID-19 situation I gained so much weight and didn't have an idea on how to lose my fat.
1 month I read about smootie diet for weight loss, was scaptical at first but I had no choice but to try It out. In just 3 weeks I've lost 25 pounds and I never felt better for years.
The guy that recommended me this smoothie diet had a great reasults with It and I wanted to give it a try, and It's worth It. It's easy to use, I feel more energetic and vital like never before.

Hi there, that's good that it has worked for you, do you have diabetes? I only ask because the smoothie diet might not be that great for your glucose levels or when you might be trying to gauge how much insulin to use for it. Maybe you could provide more information.
