fizzy drinks

I avoid water for the same reasons! You should see how rusty it can make a chrome car bumper!

Here it is .............

Put me off Coke for life, just imagine what it's doing to your stomach lining :-(

That`s an impressive demonstration but as your stomach lining isn`t made of chrome then it wouldn`t have the same reaction, from what I understand your naturally occurring stomach acids can be very strong and your stomach lining copes with them without any problems normally. I`m not sticking up for coke here, vile stuff imo, in fact you have probably found the one thing it IS good for!

You're making the assumption that our stomach linings are made of chrome car bumpers. The phosphoric acid in Coke converts rust into iron III oxide. It's a basic chemical process. Avoiding Coke (at least for the reasons you're suggesting) is like saying we should avoid water because hydrogen gas is dangerous.

You can also clean the toilet with it!

The average pH of soft drinks, e.g. Coke, Pepsi is pH 3.4. This acidity is strong enough to dissolve teeth and bones over time , I don't intend to take any chances with my stomach or any other body parts :-0

Drink what you want as far as I'm concerned , don't let my fears deter you.

I'm not sure what your point is, Hydrogen Sulfide has a higher pH, but that doesn't mean it's safer for you. A substance's pH does not necessarily mean it is safe or dangerous. Pickles and lemons have lower pH levels than most soft drinks.

I'm not sure if you realize how strong your stomach lining is. Stomach acid can literally burn you (hence acid reflux disease).

I don't drink sugar sodas either, but it's for reasons that can be explained with basic science. Maybe that's a boring way of going through life but since there are so many opinions to filter through, I have to make decisions based on what is known and what can be proven.

I've completely lost your point as well , other than being pedantic ?

This is a thread about whether or not diet coke is alright for a low-carb diet. The OP cited information he or she had read about it having an effect on ketone levels. He or she asked for an opinion on the matter. I shared my opinion, shared anecdotal evidence, and cited factual information to disprove your reasoning.

I think I was more than reasonable in contributing to the discussion, If you’re offended by my ability to disprove your argument, there is an “Ignore” button you can easily click to remove my posts from your visibility.

Have a nice day.

Thanks I didn't know about the ignore button.

I still drink diet soft drinks, I do drink less than I used to though but I dont find I have any adverse affects from drinking them. I think its very much a case of to each their own when it comes down to it. I find it makes no difference to my BS at all.

I reckon the dilation of stomach that fizzy drinks create, will trigger insulin secration and cravings

I find that my appetite increases if I have fizzy drinks with sweeteners in.
