Flesh On Head So Painful

JohnnyAngel I know you said that your doctor can be a bit funny, but please go back for a proper diagnosis, the doctor, grumpy or not must tell you what is wrong with you, if it is shingles then you need more than just an antibiotic you need anti viral medication, maybe its too late for anti viral tablets, they should normally taken at the first signs of shingles, but at least he can prescribe anti viral ointments and most definitely stronger painkillers than paracetamol or ibuprofen, you need something better than that.

A clove of fresh garlic is actually quite healthy for you, but be careful, because fresh garlic can irritate your stomach something terrible, esp if you are not used to it or have a sensitive stomach, for the beneficial properties of garlic to be effective it must be taken raw and not cooked as it would destroy the alllicin in it. I once tried to treat athletes foot with raw garlic and ended up housebound and off sick for 2 weeks DOH!!! dont even ask...

I am doing a garlic detox once a year, usually when my husband goes away to the annual conference and I am alone just with the cats and even they turn their back on me and start meeowing loudly whenever I breathe on them LOL

Garlic is also said to help you keep looking younger, but I think that is a myth, I think its more due to the fact that nobody will come close enough to you to see any wrinkles or lines

Anyway if it is shingles then you must make sure that you eat really healthy food and maybe even take a good vitamin/mineral supplement to support your immune system and plenty of relaxation, its often when people are under the weather and very stressed out that their chickenpox virus becomes activated and gives them shingles.

I hope you feel better really, really soon.

In some surgeries some vampires have more chance than a diabetic to get a prescription for strips, but at least they wouldnt need lancets?

Thanks everyone for having me in stitches. Definitely made me feel better, & back is slightly better today also. I've been using good blasts of freeze gel on that; very good indeed. Yes I agree about garlic being good for looks or skin anyway as a friend swears by it, & funny enough her cats kept their distances at certain times of the day as well  I'm tempted to ask my sis in law who's an ex hairdresser if she'll shave my head so at least I can put something on my head even if its only savlon to cool it down/ It is a bit better but not much considering that the anti biotics run out tomorrow and its still painful. Plus I've noticed if I exert at all even slight movement by movement of head I feel like a palpitation in the gland and its like connected right thro the head as its hurts at the exact time on top, and the itching OOoooooh them little spiders running round my scalp or that is what it feel likes, perhaps its little vampires avoiding the garlic, so that's where they went
You're definitely right about the swimming I must get back doing it again. I stopped after a bad back a few months back and just never got started again. It was always going to be tomorrow , yet tomorrow never comes does it. I'm definitely going to ask him for more info when I go Tuesday. I was stupid in not asking him last week but I was just relieved it didn't seem to be serious or at least as he thinks anyway

I'm sure it depends on whether you're using savlon liquid disinfectant or skin cream - the later is very mild - we've used it for all sorts of wound cleansing for years. One of the milder chidrens nappy rash creams might also be a help. But if doc confirms it is shingles he should be prescribing a suitable cream.

Morning folks, My head is a bit easier but still painful, I run out of tablets tonight not the other day as I thought, so will be going back tomorrow to see him and get a better diagnosis. I thought the tablets would have sorted it, but it is still painful to the touch though not as bad. If l lean forward such as reading I can feel pulse in my throat gland and it seems to echo to the top of my head as though connected :?: Very strange indeed. Yesterday the itching was worse than ever like lots of little insects running through my hair (no I've not got ***** lol  ) so whether that's the stuff working I don't know but it drove me insane or more insane than normal and I got my hairbrush and went right through it, it definitely brought tears to the eyes but was so relieving. I'll just have to see what he says tomorrow. I'll update after I'm back home
Cheers,
John

Hy folks, well I went to the docs this morning, and he's decided it doesn't need any more treatment other than medicated shampoo, as he said its almost gone. It is a lot better, but it still hurts on top and he said it was 'Erisipilus' or something like that; he said it was a basic skin infection. I've never heard of it before but that means nowt :) The thing that bugs me now is it is itching more than ever, and I feel like digging my fingers in a scrubbing hard but that would hurt more lol so not going to do that; I don't know but perhaps the itching is maybe it starting to get better, though it still feels like lots of insects running around. At least I can see the light at the end of the tunnel which I couldn't a few days ago.

One good point though is I had a can of ale last week and with the tabs it gave a day of the trots, so not been able to have a drink at all. Today with no tabs I've got some down from upstairs and I'm enjoying an itchy scratchy supping night. Only about 8 cans but its a start lol.
Cheers,
John (Hic!!!!)

Hi
Just found this on the internet about Erysipelas for your information

Erysipelas is an acute streptococcus bacterial infection skin and can spread to subcutaneous tissue.

People with immune deficiency, diabetes, alcoholism, skin ulceration, fungal infections and impaired lymphatic drainage , elderly patients are more prone to this infection.

Treatment involves either oral or intravenous antibiotics.

If untreated infection can spread to other areas of body through the bloodstream and causes septic shock and can lead to death.

And heres a link to more info

I suffered from similar symptoms just before christmas and it lasted about a fortnight But i did not goto the doctors and it seems to have ceared up by itself. :D

Hi Jonny,
Glad you are on the mend. Erysipilus is a bacterial skin infection. When it is unbearable try putting a sterile wet, cold cloth over it. This might make the itching subside. The more it itches the more you feel like scratching.
My grandmother had it on the skin under her eye. Like you, she wanted to scratch it. Eventually it discharged itself through her eye.
Have a drink for me. 8)

Itching is often a symptom of healing. So itching, where you did have pain is a good sin. Cooling it helps.

Blimey oh Riley when I saw that bit where it said 'can cause death' I thought blu**y norah what have I got but then read it properly and thought oh right not that bad, though it is interesting to find that it is the same virus that causes elephantitis, Poor ole John Merrick lol. Well it more manageable now as Jude got me some Vosene medicated, and it was wonderful to be able to wash my hair again after almost 10 days without, and since I can scratch more; there seems to be just one main area now which is still painful to the touch, whereas the rest is just scratchy, so hopefully its nearly finished.
Thanks for the link on it it was very interesting.
Cheers,
John
