I will make an appointment with eye doc just in case.Floaters are more common than we think and non-diabetics can experience them too, I think it's just the vitreous jelly in the eye sticking that makes them appear.
If the Optician is sure it's only a floater then I wouldn't worry too much about it, if it was an eye bleeds (as in Diabetic Retinopathy) you would see a number of streaks that look like spiders legs, after a while they disperse and break-up into a thousand small dots and eventually settle to the bottom of the eye.
