Flooding!

Sorry to hear you and your daughter have had a tough day, its not at all required. Our colleagues in Birtley were both 1.5 hours late for work after travelling only 4 miles so it seems a common issue. I think the school should remove the black mark against your daughter's name, its hardly fair.

Hope the rain stops Jo, and break out the life jackets for the dogs :)

Thanks Judith and Grace. Sadly, Tuesday's and Thursday's are fasting days, and if I fulfilled your order Judith, I would feel worse later. Said daughter however, is full of Whittards hot chocolate, warm as toast, all full up and much happier.

What a day!!

Don't stress over the school nitwits ... see to your priorities first ... yourself, your daughter, hot chocolate and the water on your flat roof. Forget the rest, there's only one of you and some nitwit at the school with an authority complex isn't worth expending precious calories on! Good luck with your roof.

Thanks, the pooling is about the same and it's still raining heavily. I am hoping that it's just a case of the drains being overwhelmed. Hey, anything that expends calories has to be good. I need to lose 2.5lbs by Monday to finally have a normal BMI. 8)

Thanks Fraddy. Yeah it has been one of those days. Funnily enough only last week I washed all the dogs coats ready for winter, so they are all clean and fresh. At the moment they run like the wind to the back door, as soon as I open it they up tails and walk away, so having to throw them out.

Both girls, different schools had an issue with reduced staff today, so it's ok for staff to call in absent with this weather, but not ok for my girl to be late? Bliddy hypocrites.

Rain finally stopped and the debris cleared up. Our local news is showing devastation all over the north east. Thankfully the flat roof guttering was just overwhelmed by the sheer volume of water, and is now clear. The double gates won't open at all, but once they dry we will have them resealed even though they were done last year. Apart from the school episode which I am still waiting for the year head to contact me, all is well. Thank goodness!!

WOW ! Defren what a story !
I would be incandescent with rage, you and your daughter have been treated VERY badly by some little hitler in the school.
Your daughter will,of course, get over it, that's what they do very well, you on the other hand will probably take quite some time.
I hope that your house gets back to normal and the floods subside quickly.
On the school business perhaps just go to the school and confront the head, demanding an explaination and apology.

Best regards to you and your exemplary daughter.....

Superchip ( fuming on your behalf ! )

Hi, :)

Just read about Defrens Daughter's warning.
It has just made my blood boil. I am now outraged.

I hope your daughter is ok and not to annoyed with her dad for doing what dads do, if you know what I mean.

I have written a steaming letter to her head of year, who the hell do these people think they are? It's one thing being late for no reason, quite another due to an act of God. Perhaps the year head thinks that is who he is!!

I would complain to my local MP and inform TV and newspapers. Also sue the bus company.

I have calmed down now. just arrange a meeting with the teacher in a view to reverse the warning.

Roy. :)

Thank you SC that was a very kind thing to say. :D

Ehm, Izzzi, why would my daughter be mad at her dad?

Yes, I have left a voicemail for said teacher - thank you!

Your daughter should advise her teacher that there is now a posse of very irate diabetics on her tail!

Hi Defren, :)

Ehm, Izzzi, why would my daughter be mad at her dad?

My daughter experienced a similar instance a few years ago and when I hit the roof at the school, she did not want me to cause a lot of fuss at school as it might make things worse.

I should used a better word instead of mad. Probably when writing at that time I was "mad" at what the school did. :x

I know now should have said " I hope your daughter supports what you do"

Sorry for the confusion.

Roy. :) :)

Gotcha. Can I just point out one thing? I don't have the equipment to be her dad.
