Flu jab

Hi I've been diagnosed about 3 weeks ago as type 1, I'm on insulin and controls good for this stage (average 7.1 over 7 days)
Docs have called and left voicemail asking if I could go in for flu jab, however I'm concerned about my levels and feeling rubbish again.

Any advise / experience or recommendations?

Thanks

Ring your diabetes clinic up and ask if you can come in and discuss your control issues, being newly diagnosed it can take a while to get the insulin doses right.

Regards to the flu jab, I'm not going to tell you what to do but the last thing you want with type 1 diabetes is the flu, it's horrible and makes managing the condition difficult, I had the flu once and make sure I get the jab every year since.

Good advice. My doctors sent me a letter to phone for an appointment. When I did, there were no appointments, and they didn't know when they would be available. I had the job done at the chemist this morning instead

There is a good reason the flu jab is offered to people with certain heslth conditions, it is easy to forget flu can kill

Thanks everyone for the advice, I've booked into the pharmacy next sat (at my convenience) to see the nasty lady with rusty needle.

It is very important to get the flu jab, I've had one every year for 6 years since I've been diagnosed, ur arm does feel heavy and achy for a day or 2 but generally I have felt fine and blood sugars have been fine but that's better than getting the flu itself being diabetic, good luck

Do have it because you really don't want to have the flu as that can be a killer . I have had a flu jab for the last 10 years and have never had any adverse reaction from them just sometimes a small tender lump for a few hours where the needle went in
