Flu shot

Hi everyone. I was taken into hospital on 15th November with suspected ketoacidosis and newly diagnosed with diabetes. I haven't been told which type yet but I have been prescribed Novorapid and Levemir injections along with 4 Metphormin tablets daily. I have found the wealth of info out there a lot to take in and am still unsure as to the correct diet to be on as everything the NHS dietician told me to eat, you guys seem to reckon I shouldn't eat. I've had cold/flu symtoms for two weeks now but am contolling my blood sugar levels well. My nurse has recommended I get the flu shot from now on (obviously not whilst I'm ill). My question is: Should my partner get the shot too or does he not need it?

This NHS page gives a list of "at risk" groups. The wording for carers is "It is recommended you have a flu jab if you:... •are the main carer for an elderly or disabled person whose welfare may be at risk if you fall ill"
