I am hoping some one might be able to help me. I take loads of melds but nothing has changed resently execpt my insulin and pred have been reduced. But I am gaining weight, even sticking to a strict low carb diet with a calorie in take of about 1500 or less a day. My fingers and ankles are swollen. I am hoping some of the gain is fluid. Any ideas on how I can improve this? I am trying to take exercise daily but as I'm shielding this isn't always easy but averaging at least 5000 steps a day.
Spoken to dr who thinks it is what it is and had no other suggestion other then low carb and hopes that weight will come off when off steroids which may never happen, (diagnosis of PMR and it's taken me 18 months to go from 15 to 5.5 and even slower now) please has anyone any ideas on how I can get rid of the extra fluid and kick start my weight loss again?

Who prescribed the steroids? I was on a load of meds and had loads of issues. A few meds had to be switched. My steroids were prescribed by my neurologist, my gps look at my meds list in horror.

My rhumatolgyist. Did but I've always been on hyrocrostsione. I now take insulin to mange the blood sugar and have got HB1C back down to 42. So all that seems stable. I just don't understand weight gain and fluid. When all bloods are normal. With out the steroid I can't move due to PMR

Sorry to here you are on steroids the sooner you can come off them the better.

My doctor prescribed a diuretic Furosemide to be exact as I had similar symptoms to you it does help but can be annoying having to dash to the loo every so often you could discuss a diuretic and it's suitability with your doctor
