Flying and medication

I am due to fly to China next week for 10 days and am now concerned after the travel agent told me that the cabin crew may want to take my insulin and needles off me when I get on the plane.

Has anyone else experienced this? I have flown twice in the nearly four years of being diabetic and have never even had to show my doctor's letter before and am now worrying as I don't want to hand my insulin over to anyone.

Thanks

Ruth

I have a letter of authorisation from my GP with a list of meds and eqwipment i need with me

My daughter has flown to India twice. She has a letter from hospital with the list of equipment she is carrying on the place (needles, pens, etc) . I have flown with her on 2 different airlines and I was able to keep everything with me. They also got me some ice to keep the insulin cool. They were very helpful with my daughter.

Never faced any problem with the letter.

I fly a lot due to work and have never once had a problem with my medication. I have a letter from my GP detailing what medication I am carrying which I show at security and I will also inform the cabin crew. The only 'hassle' I sometimes have is with US customs where they sometimes take the insulin for analysis.. other than a 10 min delay whilst they test it no other problems.. I have never had my insulin taken from me..

If you are concerned I would check with the airline

Thank you for your responses! I have tried to contact the airline but to no avail! Will take my letter and keep my fingers crossed!!!
