Hi all just joined first post, l have type 2 diabetes diagnosed September 2018. I went for my 6 monthly blood test on march 20th i also took a urine sample with me. My results came back on 22nd the nurse message me to say my Hb1Ac had slightly risen to 5.1 mmols and my cholesterol level had gone down. On the 24th i went to the loo in the morning and my urine was all foamy i went again later in the morning and was the same. I rang the doctors to try and get an appointment with my diabetic nurse but could only get one for the following Tuesday so i asked for the doctor to ring me back. He went through my results of my blood test and i asked him how was my liver and kidney function and said it was spot on so i didn't mention the foamy urine. When i went to see the nurse i took another urine sample with me i mention the foamy urine the nurse checked my results and said everything good, done a dip test and was all clear. She she will talk to the doctor and get back to me. The nurse message me back the next day and said "the foamy urine highly unlikely to be due any disease process with normal renal function and with a normal albumin and creatinine ratio in your urine I still have foamy urine,so I don't know what's going on and maybe someone can shed some light on this. Sorry for the long post but this is really bothering me.

Hi welcome

I am no expert but wonder do you self test your blood sugars with a finger prick tester? Might be interesting to see what your numbers are like when your pee is foamy, very unscientifically I’m pretty sure I have foamy pee on higher number days, I hope you find a answer, best wishes.

The term "big boned" lol repeatedly told this growing up!
My wee is foamy in the mornings but I think its the force of it coming out! I generally and at bursting point when I get up! During the day its totally different no foam!

A quick Google reveals that the main thing to be concerned about with foamy pee is if its caused by protein. That would be an indication that the kidneys are in trouble and not working properly. The tests your Dr has done seem to have ruled out anything being amis with your kidneys and have given no cause for concern.
Other possible reasons suggested by Dr Google were, as has already been mentioned high blood sugar and the force of the flow, I also came across dehydration and even some toilet cleaning products as possible reasons.
Whatever the reason, at least your Dr has ruled out anything more serious

Hi all, Thanks for the replies. I phoned the doctor this morning and was asked to take another urine sample down as they thought i had foamy urine when i had my bloods done, i had to explain again that the foamy urine started 5 days after. Anyway. I'm expecting the results back Tuesday so I will update post then.
