An awful lot.
Is it just me or is there actually a lot of food available to diabetics or is it just because l am a type 2 so more choice than a type 1 as not sure on their side of things?

What l am learning is yes some things l liked ... a Dr Pepper or a Coke when l go out l can not have, rice just wont do for me any more, even a small amount and my BG goes through the roof, and throat lozenges like now for my cold, got non sugar ones but hate non sugar products. Overall though there is still an awful lot l can eat, it has made me more aware, l am getting fitter for it and hub is finally learning not to pile my plate high in case l starve...long a bone of contention for us but finally he has started to learn :)

l am sure there will be a lot of times l get down over this, l am still very new (diagnosed start of November) and at times l think......"this is for life, not just for Xmas" and then l shut off that thought as it is just to far ahead to contemplate. After all l could get hit by a car tomorrow so no point getting wound up before l need to. My first husband and l had our life planned out then he died in an accident. I managed the last 4 years+ of hell, l am dammed if a measly case of type 2 will stop me.

The more l read the more my initial very narrow margin of what l thought l could eat widens. The Xmas cookbook just downloaded and passed to "my cook" is a brilliant example and can be used all year long. I am also lucky that we don't really do Xmas so less pressure, only the 2 of us this year and unable to go away due to weather :(

To folks who like me are new and think OMG this is a nightmare It isn't that bad use it as an experiment, and see how things affect you, keep food diaries (l use the ones from here l print off) and take back the control. Use it to get fit and to poke life in the eye. Life has handed you a great excuse to learn about your own body in ways that you would never have dreamed of or done before.

Good luck on your journey, l am now going back to perusing recipes for Andy to make at some point. And to make notes of things that l will need answers on and know someone on here often several someones will have an answer for

No restrictions for me (type 1)
cover what you want to eat with a shot of insulin. If someone chooses to eat less carbs, use less insulin. Not that simplistic though lol,

Brilliant take on things and so true, still, given the choice would rather I didn't have too :)
