Hi all

I am new to type2, but not that new to low carbs. I used to to slimming world, which was low carb, low sugar etc, I am of to asda later. Is there any whole meal type breads or rolls I can get? I used to have nimble. I am not seeing diabetic nurse toll next week, bt. need to eat. :0) also any other tips for food?

Anyone else doing slimming world modified for type2?

Thanks

Scot

Hi Scott and welcome to the forum.

Most of us on here stick to Burgen soya and linseed bread, available from all supermarkets (usually approx £1) I used to eat nimble prior to diagnosis but this is much better. More satisfying, low GI and doesn't spike BG. Check out Viv's modified atkins diet thread for more ideas of what to eat.

Best advice is to buy and meter and it'll soon tell you what you can and can't eat.

Good luck with it all. It's hard at the beginning but it does get easier with time. ( as long as you have willpower and can control the off days  )

Try looking at total carbs under 10g. Scratchings are ok as are walnuts, pumpkin seeds etc. I put those on top of Greek yogurt with strawberries and raspberries. I also buy as a topping Agave syrup, it only has 3. something carbs per tsp. Takes the edge of yogurt.

Thanks, I found the bread, looks really nice and soft, also found agave syrup.

There was an accu chek Aviva in asda for a tenner so I got it as I was curios and could not wait till nurse. My BG is 10.7, down from 16 yesterday, gonna try it again 1hr after dinner to see what happens. For roast chicken and salad.

Ok it's been 2 hours since dinner roast chicken, salad of tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce, cress, a but of cheese and a small glug of garlic olive oil. pre dinner it was BG 10.7 and now 9.7.

Well done. That's a great start. Keep up the good work and just ask anything you need to know.
There'll always be someone who can answer.

This morning was BG 12.8, then had pill then breakfast, 1 slice of toasted burgon and linseed bread. With scrambled eggs with a splash of skimmed milk (2eggs) and a little olive oil spread. Will text again soon see what's what. :0)

You should have a good result with that breakfast.

Have you tried peanut butter on toasted burgen? Really nice as a supper and seems to help the fasting BG level.

Started off a little high this morning at 12.5, just tested before dinner and 8.6. Having roasted chicken breast wrapped in bacon with a little cheese, mushrooms and cabbage with a couple of small boiled new pots. Hope that's ok.

I love peanut butter I only have Jif extra creamy, how many slices do you have for supper and how much peanut?

Dawn
be careful with Agave syrup. there's some reason it's not good. Perhaps too much fructose. I can't remember exactly.

Yes I noticed that but didn't really like to think it was anything to do with it as nothing else I've found seems to be able to have an effect on my wake up level which although has got better as the weeks go by is still a law unto itself. However now you've said the same thing...
