I weigh and count every calorie and carb that i eat and am sticking to under 800 cals and 20gms of carb. As you can imagine every morsel is precious under those levels. So yesterday I was going to have broccoli with my main meal but i didn't take my calorie, fat and carb bible into the kitchen with me so i had to rely on the back of the frozen broccoli pack. Wow great it only has .36 carbs per 100 grammes. So I can eat 200 grammes then and still have spare carbs. Hang on a mo that seems very low, so went and checked in my 'bible' and it said 3.7 per 100 grammes!!!I know that food manufacturers have a 20% degree of error in their calorie counts but i think that amount of deviation is more than that.

This variation in calories counts and carb counts and i would presume fat as well is rampant. I do't think i have ever seen counts the same in any book or online resource. It makes me wonder if anyone still does the proper analysis of foods or if it is all built on a system of 'chinese whispers' just guess work and rough judgement. Goodness knows how many major errors there are in the whole food labelling system and perhaps that is why to some extent) people can't lose weight relying on calorie counts etc that are totally out of whack.

thanks for reading the lengthy rant. Hope you all have a good day today in the sunshine.

Art, wow, sounds way too complex for me the non-scientist. I try to keep it simple now days, try to keep meals going with equal amounts of protein per meal, with a complex carb.
