Food shortages in the UK

This is a list of most of the fresh fruit and veg I eat!
I've been struggling to get any fresh cauliflower here for a couple of weeks already, but at least I have a pack of frozen berries!
"Asda has put limits on purchases of fruit and vegetables as supermarkets face shortages of fresh produce.
People can only buy certain products in a maximum quantity of three. It covers tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, lettuce, broccoli, cauliflowers and raspberries."

It's that time of year when fresh winter veg. are running low and summer veg haven't started yet. Take a look in the freezer section, as some supermarkets have lots of frozen veg. that will tide you over.
 
I grow most of them myself but will skip the peppers, toms and raspberries. The toms, cucumber and lettuce are very easy to grow even in containers. Cucumbers and courgettes, toms thrive in hot sunny areas - just a thought
 
It's not only the scarcity, it's the price!
I went into my local small greengrocers, and the guy suggested that I might need to be careful with the amount I buy. They were nearly a quid each!

I’ve been struggling to get any tomatoes at all, also peppers and celery, it’s making life difficult for my son more than me to be honest, he’s on the autism spectrum and has very narrow food choices- he eats a plate of cut up peppers tomatoes cucumbers and celery with cheese every day for lunch and won’t try anything else bless him, yes he will probably starve rather than have alternatives, even those he likes because that’s how his world works
 
I was able to get out this weekend and went to the local butchers had loads of quality fruit, veg and salad, then went to local market, lots of stalls with everything in stock- seems to me it’s the big 4 once again refusing to pay farmers the prices they need and causing panic buying in their stores. I know if I can get out of a weekend where I’ll be buying my “perishables” from now on
 
I can't imagine a butcher's selling salad!!!!! It would safe me two trips if it was like that in my butchers. Ha!

It’s a local butchers that has 3 stores in the county, their flagship store has amazing fish, I bought some scallops that were only 90 minutes off the boat! All locally sourced meat & poultry and lots of other things. It’s more like an independent supermarket. It also has a cafe that does great breakfasts It supplies to the catering industry too

Ditto! Shelf groaning with peppers and cucumbers.
Stopped doing my main shopping at the big supermarkets a long time ago. Pop in periodically for items I cannot get at Aldi or Lidl. Plus I know I am not going to be long at the checkout with their super processing.
