Limited amounts. I aim for about 100grams a day, but because I don’t count I am not sure how many exactly but I suspect a bit less than 100. And that is a LOT less than the amount of carbs I was eating just over 2 months ago.Hi Listlad so do you have any carbs or is it limited amounts?
You can get an idea here....So if you don’t mind me asking what’s a typical days food you eat?
Thanks! You can get an idea here....

There are other folk doing the same thing. It will give you an idea.
Thank you so much for that there’s some lovely recipies on there@Planetarygo If you do want to cut down on the carbs then there's a few recipes on this site here: https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/recipes/vegetarian that you could have a look at if you need inspiration! It'll help out a lot if you cut down, give you some better control and perhaps help out with other issues too. I really do hope things work out for you though, it's not pathetic at all. We have all been there at some point in time and depression has been a part of my life for a long time, just remember you're not alone! Take it slow and find your own pace.
I'll be honest it is better to cut it out and find alternatives, like 85% or above dark chocolate, melted in cream if you want some sweetness and as for crisps? Low carb veggies or cheese always works for those kinds of munchies. Spikes can hurt you a hell of a lot in the long run, wouldn't want that happening to you.Thank you so much for that there’s some lovely recipies on thereI think it’s just trying to get my head round days where all i want is a bar of chocolate and a packet of crisps I was just curious if others still do that or it really is better to cut them all out
Yeah, both type 1 and type 2 the rollercoaster of blood sugars is what really causes the damage because your body never gets any downtime to rest and heal up. Not at all dense at all, got to ask these questions to find out the answers! You're doing your best and that is what counts.Right okay so the spikes when they go up and down is one of the things that does hurt a lot? (Sorry for being a bit dense lol)
I agree. I have found it tough going. But once I got the gist of it I went for it.Thank you for thatI think that I just need to start to cut down chocolate for one it’s just so easy sometimes to help me feel better as I don’t smoke and I barely drink. I just don’t want to do more damage it’s just ****** hard ain’t it...
You're welcome and like what Listlad said it is tough going out there but take it slow and you'll get there. I recently got the shock of my life with my 114 at Christmas so I had to leap right into action. It's a balancing act and finding new ways to really escape like books, movies, games and so on but if it does get tough? Come to us here, you'll always find people willing to listen.Thank you for thatI think that I just need to start to cut down chocolate for one it’s just so easy sometimes to help me feel better as I don’t smoke and I barely drink. Right that’s another thing I get confused about 114 what does that mean in like the 5.6, 9.8 scale? And it’s so true! I think my way was always comfort eating and that’s how I got hereYou're welcome and like what Listlad said it is tough going out there but take it slow and you'll get there. It'd be an average of 17.4 over the past three months which is not good at all really. Something that I've been told though is that is not how you got here at all, there's plenty of people out there that do the same and are so much worse that never become diabetic, a lot of these is genetics and how broken the food industry is. We can only do our best to fix our bodies now and Resurgam has some amazing advice there, it's all about the things that become sugar in our blood. Don't put yourself down, it's all understandable and habits take time to change around along with blood sugars.Right that’s another thing I get confused about 114 what does that mean in like the 5.6, 9.8 scale? Thank you for that! So to start making little changes I might switch the creme egg for a high cocoa chocolate and cut right down on the potatoes (huge weakness of a picky vegetarian) I feel so much more positive alreadyYour numbers are not dreadful - I think, but when I was cutting back on carbs to get lower blood glucose, once I got under 8mmol/l after meals I stuck at 50gm as a maximum and saw my numbers go down further without doing anything different.
I think it is because I was eating low carb foods which softened the impact of the carbs. I don't eat anything which is over 10 percent carbs, other than chocolate and I always get the high cocoa ones.
I do not eat potato or bread, as they are so densely carby foods.
