Well, well done you also! I think as long as there’s little changes made that’s a really good start ehIt'd be an average of 17.4 over the past three months which is not good at all really. Something that I've been told though is that is not how you got here at all, there's plenty of people out there that do the same and are so much worse that never become diabetic, a lot of these is genetics and how broken the food industry is. We can only do our best to fix our bodies now and Resurgam has some amazing advice there, it's all about the things that become sugar in our blood. Don't put yourself down, it's all understandable and habits take time to change around along with blood sugars.
Yeah, for me it has been potato’s out, pasta out, rice out, bread out (except the lower carb bread but only 1 small slice a day). I haven’t had a chip for 2 months.Thank you for that! So to start making little changes I might switch the creme egg for a high cocoa chocolate and cut right down on the potatoes (huge weakness of a picky vegetarian) I feel so much more positive already
Wow! Now chips...they will be a drastic cut down also and bread. I’ll have a look into the low carb breadYeah, for me it has been potato’s out, pasta out, rice out, bread out (except the lower carb bread but only 1 small slice a day). I haven’t had a chip for 2 months.
That bread sounds gorgeous! I really will look into this and maybe start on a dark chocolate highish content and just having a couple of squares a dayYou could try grating chocolate into a yogurt, quorn or soya, as the high cocoa chocolate can be a bit fierce.
Rather than potato maybe try cauliflower, or celeriac.
I make my own bread with lots of seeds and fibre and ground almonds to lower the carb count - you could try experimenting with that. I put the recipes I have tried and the method on my blog on this forum. It is not very low carb, but I plan to make muffin sized mini loaves, and by freezing them help to ration the amounts. I have to watch my carbs now due to gaining weight rather than blood glucose.
Hi there all now I know this is a bit of a wonky thread but I just want to be honest and hopefully either get a telling off or some people just being in the same boat as me. I have been type 2 now for about 4 years and suffer from really bad depression and not sure if this makes any difference but a vegetarian. Now I’ve been struggling recently with eating and an average day ends up me having 50/50 bread for sandwiches and most days I have potatoes in some form. I always have veg and I always have a bar of chocolate. My average blood sugars are between 4.5 and 8 a day they mostly rest at about 5-7 honestly am I going to end up with huge complications at this rate? I know it’s a bit pathetic but I’m at a bit of a loss at the moment. Any help, advise, general shaking up is much appreciated!
Thank you! That means a lot! It's the little ones that count and add up. People around here have such good advice and got me down in my levels and will do the same for you too. Never lose hope!Well, well done you also! I think as long as there’s little changes made that’s a really good start eh
Engrish?Hello there or their Engrish ain't my best subject, maths was, but not so sure now.
Question
What were your hbA1c levels? Can you post those if you know them. If you don't then it might be worth, in fact well worth your while finding those out.
Do you test your bloods first thing in the morning and just before your evening meal?
Do you keep a food diary?
Carbs and fats and energy levels. Sometimes you need carbs to bring up your energy levels.
Sometimes low energy leads to depression and then the body craves sugars and carbs. Everybody is different.
Try boosting your energy levels and hopefully your moods might might brighten, then try eating to your blood sugar meter ( if you are not sure what that means please ask ) while keeping a food diary.
For a non diabetic person levels between 4 and 7 are supposed to be fine.
Also if it's any consolation I am struggling with energy levels, cravings and lowish for me sugar levels.
Good luck.
Ps this forum has helped me enormously.
PunEngrish?

Thank you for this small changes I think are going to help tremendously I think I’ve got to realise that I can’t just cut everything out straight away because I’m pretty miserable at the moment so I don’t really want to add to that but I guess the cutting everything down will help a lot. I think sometimes it’s easy to think that if your sugars are ok and you’ve had something naughty that it’s okay to do it regular but with the spike I guess that’s not at all. I don’t even know if there’s a healthy spike if that makes sense ?Might be worth noting you mood levels in your food diary.
