Pasta? Is it a yes or a no? \when i was diagnosed it was one of the staple foods in hospital but now i read pasta is a no no? Anyone care to expand?
but fine for a T1 like myself?Pasta is a no no for a Type 2.
ok, thanksHi,
It's really early days yet and hard to advise you. Have they told you how to adjust your insulin up or down if you are high or low before a meal because that's important even on a relatively fixed dose regime? You will eventually learn how to match your rapid insulin dose to the amount of carbohydrates in your diet.
Pasta is quite high in carbohydrate but also takes a while to absorb so I find that it's one of the more difficult foods to dose appropriately for. White pasta also doesn't have many nutrients so wholegrain is better.
At the moment I think I would think back to the amount of pasta you were given in hospital and don't eat more (or much less) than that Indeed I would think the best thing to do until you get further professional advice is to stick to the types and amounts of foods that you had in hospital.
