can someone please give me a rough guide too which foods i am new too this and not really sure or is it just cut out sweet things :?: :?: :?:

Hi Andy and welcome to the forum. The thing in food to watch out for is carbohydrate.Diabetics have trouble dealing with carbohydrate metabolism. When you read a product label look at the total carbohydrate contents not just the sugar. If the total is over 10 then I would give it a miss!!Eat plenty vegetables, proteins, and fats and cut down the portion sizes especially bread, potatoes, rice and pasta and flour based things. These all contain complex carbs which break down in the body 100% glucose(sugar).Do you have a test meter for testing your blood sugar levels?

i am getting my meter on tuesday are teacakes ok what about ryvitas creakerbread and friut i,ve cut out chocolate, and started walking and swimming and also going on the wii fit, its just that i am always snacking just need some ideals for them as well please

Have a look on the packet of teacakes and see how much carbohydrate is in them!!When you get your meter the thing to do is test first thing in the morning, before eating then, test two hours later and see what you have eaten has done to your blood sugar levels.Keep a food diary so that you can check which foods are making your blood sugar levels go up.Do this for a week testing before and two hours after every meal and you will soon see which foods that you eat are suitable or not.If ,when you test 2 hours after, the reading is much the same as when you tested before eating then that meal was OK.
Have a good read round the forum and you will pick up lots of helpful advice and ,keep asking questions.

Unfortunately yes.We are all different when it comes to the effects that certain foods will have on us otherwise we could have a standard diet.It is very much trial and error to find which foods affect you and which don't.
