I'm going to try soya flour dumplings and as I always used wholemeal flour will add some bran to it (and baking powder of course)I made a beef stew yesterday evening.
Put it in the fridge to have today and tomorrow.
I love stew, and thought it would spike me.
Obviously I left out the dumplings, which I really loooove!
I didn't modify anything else though, and only spiked ever so slightly at 8.2.
Which I'm quite pleased about
I meant @Dibbles1 probably put spuds (potatoes) in that caused the spike....but daft is my middle nameThat was a bit daft. !!

Made it tonight, no mincer (gave one away last year approx same age as recipe) so used food processor. Half recipe only and only half the sugar stated. Made large coffee jar full. Will make my soya pastry tomo and report back on finished productRe the mince pies. Have some really OLD recipe cards that are in a little box. Opened it and split the pack and the recipe for mince meat was there.....didn't know there was one but here it is for all to see and try.
Well I've heard of cheese being eaten with fruit cake (a friend of mine does it) but not this combination before. Be interesting to try it if Mum can find it, thanks @Kezzer4321My nan used to make Mince Pies which only had a little mincemeat on but had cream cheese as well... they were delicious and I wondered if the cream cheese would minimize the spike...My nan died about 15 years ago, but I've asked my mum if she still has the recipe... I am sure they could be adapted to make them more low carb friendly.

Risky I would say but I'm only in the prediabetc category and don't need insulin. I LOVE chocolate orange but would rather not eat it than have to counteract it with insulin.Normally when I'm high, I feel like I am breathing in gas or something.. Anyone else get this symptom??
It's horrible.. But I had a full Terry's chocolate orange tonight and I didn't get the symptoms that bad.
BS still went to 29 but brought it down again... Are you allowed to eat a whole chocolate orange once in a while as long as you counteract it with insulin?
That's good. My figures for similar experiments are roughly the same as your spread. My problem is I tend to spike at 2.5 hrs. Now I know this my porridge and spud treats are now off the menu. I was hitting 9 or 10 at this point. Starting from around 5.5.I have had two successful experiments.
This morning I decided to try porridge. Not only that, I topped it with half a tablespoon of maple syrup and accompanied it with a small mandarin.
Numbers: before 5.3, 1 hour 7.5, 2 hour 5.6
I was pleased with those numbers and will try it again tomorrow.
Last night I had a whole baked potato.
Before 3.7 That is not unusual if I am a bit late with a meal. 1 hour 6.5, 2 hour 5.8
