Foot issues & metformin

Padge

Newbie
Recently diagnosed type 2 and got bg level pretty controlled within a month. All is well except my feet were hurting when I was diagnosed, but have got worse. I was on 500mg metformin for 3 weeks now up to 1000mg.
The feet feel as though the nerves have woken up all over and toes in particular. I can feel the revenue endings and they are very sensitive. Does anyone think its the feeling coming back as I have reduced bg levels and /or anything to do with metformin

Shouldn't be the Metformin, I would have a word with your nurse or Doctor. What's your carb like? I find if I've overdone the carbs my feet can burn.

Very unlikely to be the Metformin. With Type II circulation and nerve damage may occur if it was undiagnosed for a long period. Some foot/leg pains and eyesight changes may occur as things settle down. If you have not seen a podiatrist you should ask for a referral, and a Doppler, to check things out.

Re: Foot issues & metformin

I suffer with feet burning and tingling - long before diagnosis - this is probably diabetes causing problem rather than metformin,. Mine hurt more when on my feet a lot, right shoes help a bit.
