Yes, Bluetit, they gave me am emulsifying ointment. But to be honest it doesn't really do much, which is why I was wondering about the mink oil.

Hi Carol it does look sore and raw looking and understandably painful. The only thing I can offer is: my elderly dad has (gut ache) psoriasis ( not diabetic), he had prescribed ointment rubbed into his lower legs and has a prescribed bath emulsion called Psoriderm in his bath. He also had an infection which looks similar to your problem and had to have antibiotics. He doesn't have it on his legs anymore and is off the treatment for now.
Please don't use anything that's not prescribed or recommended by a s medical professional and keep going back until you get the right help and treatment. Take care
