Foot pain

Hi all! Don’t know if anyone has experienced something similar and would know what to suggest. I had my diabetic foot check up last month and everything was fine. However, I’ve been in extreme discomfort and not sure whether this could be to do with my diabetes. For months I keep getting random shooting pains up my leg but never really worried about it just thought might be similar to cramp as it’s gone within seconds. I suffer with weak ankles so always injuring them so not really thought to much about it. However the past couple of days my foot has been in serious pain, starting from my toe and spreading to my leg, with my calf’s being really tight. My toe movements are restricted and foot really cold. This has happened before went the doctors had an X-ray never got an answer, after a couple of months it stopped.
Not sure if it could be diabetes related or not so wanted to see if anyone else had experienced something similar

Hi @HannahWenty funny you should post this because I've been having what I'd describe as shooting pains in my lower leg bones. I don't know if it's diabetes related and haven't done anything about it.

I think it's quite hard being a diabetic because you never know what is and what isn't the result of diabetes. Hope you get an answer and can share it

Hi @HannahWenty funny you should post this because I've been having what I'd describe as shooting pains in my lower leg bones. I don't know if it's diabetes related and haven't done anything about it.

I think it's quite hard being a diabetic because you never know what is and what isn't the result of diabetes. Hope you get an answer and can share it

Thanks! Yeah I don’t know if it is or not, think it’s just the fact it’s happened before making me panic a bit and then making the rookie error of googling what it could be!

Hi @HannahWenty, From my own background a s a type 1 diabetic for 52 years, but not as professional opinion or advice:
I have not experienced your symptoms but I have read enough to know that coldness in one leg more than the other and shooting pains in one or both legs need medical assessment as nerve and circulation problems can occur with diabetes. That is not to say that other causes, unrelated to diabetes, do not happen.
An Xray is but one test.
Please take your symptoms seriously and consider requesting a full assessment including for circulation and nerve troubles.
There may be medication prescribed to ease the pain in the interim, but that is dependent to a degree on an initial guess as to the cause of the pain etc.
The old nonsense about not treating the pain, not disguising the pain until the diagnosis is fully made is a cruel, debunked notion for these pains..
Doctors do start pain-relieving treatment for patients whilst tests and results are still not completed, for the sake of the need for a patient to have relief from pain and thus the ability to sleep etc. Some such medication may not have immediate effect and so it best decided on sooner than later in some persons.
Please get things checked out a.s.a.p. Best Wishes for easy answers and effective treatment !!!

Thanks! Yeah that’s what I was reading about nerve and circulation problems which seems to be quite likely will try and get an appointment to hopefully get a next step to take!

Hi @HannahWenty It would be interesting to know whether you are Type 1 or 2 and for how long. As you have frightened yourself Googling, I would not begin to offer suggestions other than to say poor kidney function caused me many gout attacks, especially in the foot joints, and cellulitis. I eventually was diagnosed with Charcot Foot, but that was after 54 years of Type 1.
Certainly I would not allow anyone to fob you off. Good luck

Sorry, type 1 for 20 years. Yeah I know very silly of me googling! Defo going to head back to the doctors and hopefully investigate it more!
