Hello, i have had type 1 for nearly 3 years now without any complications, i have just seen my DSN and she says that my average suger levels are good, but i have just noticed today that a small area on the side of my big toe that seems to be losing sensation, i can still feel the area but not as much as the other side, it also tingles as well, could this be the start of foot comlications ? just wonderd if anyone has had the same problem, any advice welcome thanks.

Hi Matt,

My advice would be to ask the professionals as to what is causing this.

Definitely get it checked out, but I'd also say though, don't panic - if your blood sugars are good it could just be your shoes. I had a similar prob a while ago where I was scared I was losing sensation in my big toe; turned out to be the shape of the new shoes I was wearing, which over time were putting pressure on places they shouldn't. I was slowly getting a callous on a particular area and it felt tingly and less sensitive than the other side.
I'm not saying don't go to the doc - do get it looked at - but just saying that there are other possibilities.

Hi Matt and welcome to the forum. :)

I think you should make an appointment to see your doctor as the loss of feeling could be caused by things other than diabetes; it is always wise to get things checked out promptly.
