need some advice please. i have a a foot ulcer on the ball of my left foot. i also have foot drop on the left. my ulcer has been debrided and a dressing applied. i have been told to keep the weight off as much as possible, but because of the foot drop, the ball of the foot is the area that takes all my weight. the dressing keeps slipping and exposing the wound. i have now got burning pains up my ankle. at what stage should i go to hospital ? i don't like taking appointments if not necessary. will my foot heel with pressure being put on to the wound. many thanks. PS i have pictures before debriding and after if needed.

Hi there.

I wouldn't waste any time. Do not take any risks. I would seek hospital advice now and get down to A and E. The fact you have these shooting pains would be enough for me to call for an ambulance or to at least call 111 for advice.

Get that seen to .... pronto

The word immediate comes to mind along with urgent medical advice required if you can not walk or bear weight on the foot without pain call an ambulance if you have no one to transport you to the hospital A&E.

You may be referred for crutches or a wheelchair to aid your recovery. If there is a delay getting a wheelchair then try ringing your local Red Cross, they will loan you one for a nominal fee (and they are usually better than the NHS chairs, too).
Good Luck.

Not surprised with that in the slightest ..... good friend of mine had it and the antibiotics took a long time to take effect with med changes required. His however, was severe

just a update. got infection in my blood. antibiotics. thank you all for your advice

So glad you had the situation checked out. I hope the antibiotics help quickly.

Hello there Rich, and welcome aboard to the site.

You haven't done anything wrong, but the thread you have responded to is over a year old, and the thread starter hasn't logged onto the site for almost as long, so may not respond.
