After an overload of info online I thought it would be quicker to ask here - my son (age 16 type 1 less than a year) is staying with friends in Europe - he forgot to take his insulin with him on a long day out. He has been active today & gone with his 'gut' on when/what to eat etc but it will be early hours of tomorrow morning before he is near his insulin again. Can anyone advise what he should do about his lantus please? Is the lack of routine likely to make him unwell?
Thank you for any help.
Sonja

when was his last injection? does he take lantus in the evening? Does he have his meter with him?

If it was me I wouldn't take the risk. Its quite a long time without insulin and he ate without blousing. He is probably still in honeymoon period and produces some insulin but still..

@sonnylx - Usual advice for forgetting evening Lantus is to take half the normal dose in the morning and then back to full dose that evening. Obviously more testing required during the day and be prepared for correction doses of quick-acting if needed.
